:: Friday, October 12, 2001 :: Here are three reasons why humans should colonize space. I wish we would. Even if I don't go, I'd love to see it before my life is over. I have a feeling that I won't, though.:: Wednesday, October 10, 2001 :: Ask anybody that knows me and they'll tell you that I have a real problem with local TV news. Apparently there is a PBS mini-series coming out that explores the issue of content (or lack of it) in local news. The cameras follow a Charlotte NC station's news program. They try to buck the "sound-bite" trend and do things differently. I'd like to see this documentary. There is a long article about it in Salon. Well, it seems that Oct. 2nd was Palindrome day and I missed it. Here is the longest one that I have ever seen. It kind of puts "Madam I'm Adam" to shame. I'm watching a childhood memory on Classic Sports Channel. It was my cousin's birthday, when I was ten years old. During his all day party the Phillies game was on, of course. They were playing the Cubs at Wrigley. This was (and I believe is still) the highest scoring game in major league history. Phillies 23.....Cubs 22. What a game.:: Tuesday, October 09, 2001 :: The Nobel prize in physics was given to three scientists who discovered (or created) a new type of matter. It isn't a solid, liquid, or gas. It is called a Bose-Einstein Condensate for the two physicists who first proposed the existance of such matter. This discovery is looked at by physicists as huge. Many scientists have already begun looking for ways to use this new form of matter. I found this funny article at Salon. It is written by a person who annotates american movies to avoid confusion in foreign markets. Very amusing plays on words. Sorry about the screwed up links, I think I fixed them all. I have to go to class but check this out. A few plot changes for the upcoming Lord of The Rings movies that were hopefully discarded. Come and sign this petition to get Warner Bros. Looney Tunes released on DVD. I think this would be very cool (even though I don't have a DVD player yet). I've been listening to my personal radio station quite a bit. It is a pretty cool idea. The service is provided by sonicnet. It's free to sign up. After you sign up you follow the link to create your own personal radio station. It gives a whole list of music genres and you give them a rating between "never want to hear" to "I want to hear that a lot". Once the music starts playing you can edit your station. When an artist comes on you can give them a rating specifically. I like it. I think I saw this guy's picture at the post office! Everyone better hide their robots, there's a posse out lookin' for them. Thanks to "The Weblog". If I had any readers I would say I'm sorry for the absence. I've been very busy around the house. Took a cast iron radiator out of my kitchen but I'm having trouble with the piping in the basement. I promise to be more prolific from now on.
