:: Thursday, September 27, 2001 :: Just testing something. Doing some research on the history of kites for a potential entry in Wikipedia. Here is a site that gives some anecdotes on famous kite flights (of course Ben Franklin heads up the list). This site seems to have some good info to supplement what I've gotten from my personal library.:: Wednesday, September 26, 2001 :: Here is an interesting article in Slate that discusses the PBS mini-series, "Evolution". The author, Chris Mooney, argues that the series is trying to fit into the "modern science and religion reconciliation movement." He says that the documentary stays clear of atheism and agnosticism as it relates to Darwinism.:: Tuesday, September 25, 2001 :: Uh oh! I just found something that has the possibility of holding my attention for a while. It's called Wikipedia. I haven't really looked at it yet but according to Boing Boing it is an online encyclopedia created by the People. Anyone can add a page or add to a page. It sounds like it is quite the community. They get rid of crank pages very quickly and a lot of the content is quite good. This is right down my alley. Quantum Dots? Since none of us in the house have had a puppy before, we are learning on the job. We keep hearing different things about crating. How long, when, and where. This page seems to have some good guidlines. Oh well, we'll figure it out.:: Monday, September 24, 2001 :: Oh yeah, the site says that the "new" trailor can be seen tonight during the season premier of "Angel" on WB. I can't wait for The Fellowship of The Ring to come out. The Trilogy of The Ring is one of my favorite stories. I have read it quite a few times so I am very excited to see the first film of the trilogy. I'm even more excited after seeing the trailors (the second of which is available at the official web site). Uh oh, watch out all of you "kill your television" people. A new study has found that certain kinds of TV viewing can aid in the intellectual growth of young children. I've been very busy these last few days. Still lots to do with the new house. Lots. LOTS. Also, we just adopted a new puppy, Simon. I have a few minutes this morning so I'll do a little surfin' and catch up on my email.
