Sid & Marty Kroft

I was at work last night and someoe brought up H.R. Pufnstuf and other Kroft Superstars shows. I used to love those shows when I was a kid. "Kroft Superstars" was on every weekday and each day was a different show. I remember Monday was The Land Of The Lost, which was my favorite.

Well, Cathy and Maryann, here are a couple of sites that I found. This first one is just an overall Kroft site. Here is one dedicated to the Bugaloos, which, I believe, you told me a while ago that you had never heard of.

Recently I've been seeing links to a website about a motorcycle tour through the "Dead Zone" surrounding Chernobyl. I finally clicked on it this morning via runswithscissors. It is a fascinating website. There are many pictures along with a short history of the area and the accident.

Here is an interesting paper from economics professors from Harvard and UNC Chapel Hill about the effects of file sharing on album sales. What they discovered is that "downloads have had an effect on sales which is statistically indistinguishable from zero." In other words downloading music has had no effect. Maybe the recording industry is losing money because they charge alot for crappy music?

Thanks to Pattern Recognition and Boing Boing

I just watched a rediculous (but still amusing) low budget "Matrix" ping pong match. Warning; there are pop-ups (just one). Here is another short which is amusing at times. It is a Mario Bros. star in "Matrix Reloaded" scene. Both of these shorts were found courtesy of A Lecturer's Tale.

I heard a story about an artist name George Rhoads on NPR recently. He creates "Rolling Ball" sculptures. I love things like that. I believe there is a rolling ball sculpture at the "Franklin Institute" in Philadelphia. That was my favorite exhibit when I was a kid. It was/is in the "Energy Room." Here's a link.

Thursday and Friday I went to the Dave Matthews Band concerts at the Meadows (Hartford, CT). The shows were great, as usual. I agree, though, with some people who said that the shows were a bit mellow compared to shows in past years.

As always, there were alot of people recording the shows. Just like The Grateful Dead before them, DMB allows the recording of their shows for personal use and for trading. Every year I witness this and I think that I want to get involved in trading but I never have. Until now. I just recieved an email verifying my first B+P. All I have to do is send Blank CD-R's and return Postage and I will recieve a live recording of a show. After I have done a few B+P's I will begin trading to get even more shows. I love live music and this is a great way to enjoy it.

Here's where I found my first B+P. Nancies.org I'm sure there are many other sites dedicated to trading live shows, and I will update periodically with links.
